the Freds

One of my commenters yesterday called Frederika and Frederick the Freds. I love that! Usually when I start a new piece I like to start in the dead center and work my way around. With this piece however, because I'm thinking of putting both Freds on one piece I had to start at the top. So I'm going to be jumping around a bit. I don't want to get bored by doing just the border so I'll fill it in as I go around the piece.

Coni (one of my favorite bloggers btw - how can you not love a blogging dog) is also thinking of doing the Freds together - great minds and all that!

I haven't been to agility class in a couple of weeks - not since that horrible trial in St. Charles a couple of weekends ago. I think it's time to evaluate how much I want to continue. Goodness knows I could use the money back that I dump into it every month. But I'd really miss the friends I made but if the are true friends and not just people I got to know because of agility they will still be there. And I can still play with my dogs in the backyard. But part of me will miss it so much - and that's why I keep coming back again and again. I love to trial but hate not living up to our potential. Both me and the pugs. I have already signed up for the next two local trials but am holding off on sending in my forms for any trials after those. Maybe I just need a break. And it's probably a good thing that I have not heard back yet from the people who run the agility summer camp I wanted to attend this year. It's almost $600 dollars plus expenses and if I'm not feeling it that would be a poor choice of how I spend my money right now.

Oooh, what a lovely start! I want to stitch both the Freds too - though I was thinking of just getting them framed the same and hanging them together on my 'bird' wall :)

Doing both Freds together is a wonderful idea - i'm anxious to see your progression. When I stopped exhibiting dogs in the late 90's - that is how it happened for me however it was for different reasons. My breed had a lot of grooming involved and I was totally burned out from that. I kept everything not being shown clipped down. Cost of vet bills, food, entry fees, travel, grooming supplies was putting me in the poor house. As my old champions died off - they were not being replaced with new hopefuls. Finally I just said NO MORE BRUSHING and the last 3 young adults did not ever go in the ring again but lived out their lives just as happy. I was far happier I think and in my case - people who had I thought I'd be friends with forever - well we grew apart - some gradually and some immediately - my best friend was crushed I wanted to quit - we were like sisters - it's been almost 13 years since I heard from her. That's my story - take a break and if it turns into abandonment - then it was time. Good luck with your decision Mel

I think a break sounds good, personally. I don't know either you or your sweet dogs in any particular way, but I did watch that video you put up a bit back of the less-than-successful trial. It seems like both you and Clancy are made of "good stuff", so I think it may be just that there are times to "be who you are" and then there are times to "show 'em what you're made of". This you might be entering a season of just being. :)

Ah yes, the Freds. That was me. lol! Looking good so far! Sounds like you might be needing a break from agility. I hope it all works out and you and the pugs start feeling better about it eventually.

We're still hoping they run the "fun agility" course at our local training facility. We're not sure that either Stella nor us are ready for the commitment. I'm sure you'll find your path.

I like your idea of doing both together....wish I had thought of that. Looking good so far!

Perhaps you could still attend the trials as a spectator and then you could still hang out with your friends. Maybe the reason the pugs do not do so well at some the events is that there is a lot of noise amd other distractions, but they perform perfectly back home where is is quieter.
