we made it :-)

We made it to the Not So Scary Halloween party last night at the Magic Kingdom. It was really a great time and I'm so glad we made the effort to go even though we arrived a couple hours late. This is me with the entire dwarf gang. How cool is this? Because we have two extra tickets, my sister and I might go again one evening next week to see what we missed - which was a lot.
Here I am as Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean. The highlight if my evening was being picked out of the crowd by Capital Jack Sparrow himself during the villain parade. :-) OK, it was a just a point from him but it was still cool. :-)

My mom has finally been diagnosed. She has a hernia in her abdomen and a section of her bowels have been moving into it so over time it has been obstructing things and generally messing everything up. But it was a gradual thing that my mom assumed was everything else expect what it really was, i.e., food poisoning, flu, etc. And she never told anyone that she was having trouble especially her doctor who might have started to look into things. She has been losing weight over the past few months but as she is always trying to lose weight no one really gave it much mind. So she is in surgery now and we are waiting for the phone call to go back to the hospital and see her. It is going to be a couple of tough weeks. In addition to the hernia, she has bronchitis, anemia and has a mild case of malnutrition because of the cycle of illness she has been experiencing for many months now. She hide most of it from us because she was afraid she had a recurrence of cancer (she had lung cancer about 15 years ago). Because of the bronchitis she is going to be on a ventilator for a couple to several days. The earliest my sister and I can go home is next Friday but we are not holding out much hope for that at all. Most likely it will be around the 1st or 2nd of November putting my vacation to Jamaica in jeopardy.

I sound so selfish when I say that but I was so looking forward to that vacation as I haven't had a proper vacation in a couple of years. I don't have travel insurance so if I can't make it it's money lost. And even if I get home in time I'm not sure my boss will be cool with me leaving again right after been out of the office for two weeks.

Love the photos!

I will be keeping your Mom in my thoughts and prayers that she comes through the surgery with ease. The bronchitis might be the hardest part. I hope she doesn't develop pneumonia.

Take care

How frustrating are parents? Like when your FIL with heart failure symptoms doesn't go see a doctor until he falls down and hits his head and gets a concussion and then is diagnosed with heart failure? Yeah, I feel you. (And your mom does know deep down that going to the doctor when you think you have a recurrence of cancer is better done sooner than later, right???) I hope she is feeling better soon. And I hope you get to go to Jamaica too.

Your costume rocks!

That is simply a super fabulous costume! Even the buttons on the pants. And you look great in it. My husband has a Dr. Tiki costume (take two martinis and call me in the morning) for the Halloween party we always go to, but I'm not much into costumes. Now I just have to think of SOMETHING to wear besides clean jeans.

No, it doesn't sound selfish. Especially when you've been looking so forward to your vacation. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your boss understands the whole situation and you can still have your trip! I'm glad to hear that things with your mom are better. Still very scary, but at least not a recurrence of cancer.

Love the costume too. Great picture.

Oh Margie, lots of good thoughts and prayers for your mom, thank goodness they have a diagnosis.

Don't feel guilty for worrying about your vacation. I think it's totally normal and I hope somehow you can work things out. It never hurts to ask, maybe there's a way you can reschedule it.

Love the halloween party pictures!

Now don't you look fantastic in your outfit. You did a great job. Love the shirt and all the detail. It would have been such a pity if you did not attend the party. Hope your mom is better soon and good as new. Life is full of complications but you will be surprised what you can live through!!

Hey Margie! Are you cute or what? Awesome costume!

I am so sorry about the worry you've had with this trip and I am also sorry about your concern over getting to go to Jamaica. I don't blame you one bit about being worried about that.

Hope Mom improves quickly!

Wow, Margie...your costume turned out fantastic! Awesome job!

Your doofy mom! Sounds like something my MIL would do, doesn't like rocking the boat. Tell her we love her anyway and glad she has a diagnosis.

Margie, I'm glad your mom has a diagnosis and can move on from there, hopefully healing quickly. My mother had the same hernia thing happen. Took over the counter meds for years until she ended up in the hospital's ER. She had surgery to repair it and thank God is fine now.

Your costume is fabulous!

I'm glad your Mum is doing better, I hope she has a speedy recovery. We went through a similar thing with my MIL earlier this year, but she's made a full recovery now.
