so close!

I'll finish up Happy Birthday on my way home from work tonight. Yeah! They a new start for me.

I don't mean to sound so negative about the seller (and thanks for the nice supportive comments! you guys are great). But I do see things from such a different side. When the banks were giving away mortgages without proper checks at 110% percent of the hugely inflated property values I walked away. I didn't drink the coolaid. I waited and saved and waited more. And I finally can buy a home the right way. So while I really feel for this family who is loosing their home, where were the people they trusted telling them maybe this was not such a good idea? I'm not responsible for their bad choices. I'm actually part of the solution for them and for the market in general.

But I did hear some hopefully good news - the seller is planning on moving next week and I should be able to get in the house and make the changes I needed to make before the FHA Inspector comes back. Cross your fingers that the place doesn't get trash on the sellers way out. It's always something. :-(

Our friends bought a home that was foreclosed, and when the owners left, they took all the kitchen cupboards, light fixtures, crown molding, sinks, counters, and even the light switch covers!!! A home on our street has been vacant and unkempt for years. The bank that took it does nothing at all, not even the grass. No excuse for that. But I do feel really bad when there are children involved in these upheavals. Hope all goes smoothly for you in this final stretch.

I hope it all works out for you. Will say a prayer that they don't decide to trash the place out of spite.

Margie, your stitching is beautiful! And I second what Marly said because that's exactly what happened to us. Our house was a foreclosure and when the previous owners moved, they STRIPPED it on the way out all the way down to taking the screens from the windows to the toilet seats in the bathrooms. They plugged the drains and the toilets and clipped the thermostat in the oven. It wasn't our fault that they defaulted on the loan and I could understand their bitterness. We were left with a lot of damage to fix and many things to replace. Good luck and I hope and pray that all goes well for you!
