a lousy couple of days

I started on Quaker Heart by Shepherd's Bush before I left Jamacia but didn't get much done. This is going to go quick I think.

I got back into town late Monday evening. And nothing has gone right - starting from my first flight home. At the airport in Montego Bay, airport security didn't like the size of my Dovos so they confiscated my favorite and most expensive pair of scissors. I'm heartbroke over it. But I figure just because they were fine for US security they would be ok for everyone else. Far from it. And they didn't have a system in place to send them to me like TSA has here. They are just gone.

Then I worked from home on Tuesday and the bucket full of work waiting me was huge. As of now, I really haven't even made that much of a dent in it.

But here is the real killer - before I started work on Tuesday I needed to download the video I took of the wedding last Saturday. I wanted to get it to my friend Peggy before my work day started. I had a ton of old agility videos on it and I wanted to clean it up before I uploaded to YouTube. I already have a feeling that many of you know where this is going. Somehow when I was scrolling through the videos, I went from the oldest to the newest and I accidentally deleted the wedding. My video camera is a pretty new JVC and it has a hard drive. According to all the information I have been able to find both from the manuals and online, once you delete something from the hard drive on this model it's gone forever. But I did try to load several recovery programs and none of them could recover the video. I'm just sick over it. It was the only video the bride and groom had. Then a couple of hours later I was cleaning up my hard drive on my laptop and guess what? I deleted all my photos! Not only from my photo file but also from the recycle bin. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened. All my stitching not to mention pug photos are gone. Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed.

Major suckage. Wow. I can't even relate.

However, the scissors. Yup. Basically leaving any foreign country I've lost either scissors or needles (needles!). How did we get to be the sensible ones. Shouldn't the whole world just follow whatever rules the Israelis have set up? I mean they've been dealing with terrorism forever.

Sorry to hear about the confiscation of your favorite pair of scissors! That really does bite!

But the computer thing makes that pale in comparison!! I'm really sorry about that. I'd be sick to my stomach. I hope you can find some way to get them back. There's gotta be a geek somewhere that can do it!

The scissors could be replaced, I suppose, but it really sucks they were lost in the first place.

How horrid about the wedding video. ***cries*** I bet you were heartboken!

Gosh! What a disaster! Having the nice vaca doesnt much help the poor things you have gone through this week. How awful, I know the scissors are bad, but the worst is the video and the pics! At least you could get another pair of scissors, but too bad about the pics! :(

Wow, one thing after another. I'm so sorry! I can only imagine how heartbroken you were over everything. Wish I could be there to give you a hug.

Margie, I'm so sorry! The scissors, the video, the pictures -- how heartbreaking! I can't even imagine how you must be feeling right now. :( Hugs to you.

Oh Margie, I'm so sorry about losing your scissors but especially about losing your video and pictures. I can't imagine how sick you must feel about it. Does the camera manufacturer have a telephone help line? Sometimes the nerdy types there know some special magic to work to recover stuff.

OMG, I am so sorry to hear about all your difficulties. I live in horror that I am going to do that sometime with my photos. I guess we expect too much from technology.

So sorry about the scissors. I have never tried to get any scissors through security other than in my checked bags. I always have my Clover cutter in my carryon. I know there are some scissors that are supposed to be acceptable, but I have heard of the being taken too.

Remember through all of this your pugs and stitching friends still love you.
